Dianne Braddock Named I-SS Teacher of the Year 2019-20
Iredell-Statesville Schools

Dianne Braddock from the Agriculture & Science Early College was named the 2019-20 I-SS Teacher Assistant of the Year.  Ms. Braddock began working for the district in September 2016.  She has served at North Iredell High School prior to her job at the Agriculture & Science Early College.

Ms. Braddock  has been with Iredell-Statesville Schools for two and a half years working on the campus of North Iredell High School before taking up her role at the Agriculture and Science Early College.  Prior to her employment with the district, Ms. Braddock served as a dental assistant for 33 years.

When asked about a time she felt gratified she explained that this happens often during weekly meetings with her students.

"Most of these times have come to fruition during weekly "Accountability Meetings."  All online students have a weekly meeting to review grades and productivity.  Many times during these meetings, a student will share the reasons their grades or productivity may be falling, concerns about their grades, or just life issues.  When I see them successfully navigate the issues we discuss, I'm privileged to see the difference made first hand," Braddock explained.

From speaking with Ms. Braddock it is clear that she cares about her students.  When asked about a word she would use to describe herself, Ms. Braddock simply replied compassionate.

"A student is not just a student to me.  I view each student as my own and do whatever I'd want someone to do for mine.  I give them my all.  I believe we grow the entire student, not just their mind, but their body and heart for others," stated Braddock.

Our teacher assistants are one part of the 139 employees recognized at the I-SS Employee of the Year Celebration and Luncheon that was held on May 23, 2019, at The Unity Center.  Teacher Assistants from each school were recognized for being named Teacher Assistant fo the Year for their campus.  From these school winners, finalists were selected prior to the event.  Each finalist went through an interview but did not learn the outcome until the winner was announced during the celebration.  Employees were each presented a plaque of achievement by Superintendent Brady Johnson, members of the Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education, and district leaders.
